The logic is straightforward once you hear it: let the first wave of users find the bugs, get hacked, and figure out what a new tool is actually good for, before you touch it. By the time she adopts something three to six months later, most of the rough edges are already sanded off by people who paid the cost of finding them. She's not first. She's just not paying the early-adopter tax either.

Here's the part that actually surprised us: she says that even adopting a tool months late still puts her ahead of most people, because outside the small bubble of people who obsess over AI, the single most common question she gets in 2026 is still should I use ChatGPT or Gemini or Claude? Not a nuanced take on the latest model release. The starting question. If that's genuinely representative, the gap between actually current and comfortably ahead of average is a lot wider than the AI-news feed makes it feel.

This lines up with the whole reason this site exists. We've said elsewhere that nobody, including us, has this fully figured out, and that the honest move is testing things properly instead of racing to have an opinion on day one. Sabrina's version of that same idea, stated plainly, is: pick fewer tools, learn them deeper, and get off social media if it's just feeding you FOMO instead of usable information.

Worth being precise about what this is and isn't. It's one experienced creator describing her own practice, not a study, and we're treating it that way, not as proven fact. But as a personal policy, it's a genuinely useful one to borrow: you don't need to be first to be ahead. You need to be more current than the person next to you, and most people next to you haven't picked a default AI tool yet.
